An Autumn Wedding at Weingut LISZT

“We want to take a special path”

Wedding Film Burgenland | Weingut LISZT

In the picturesque Burgenland, surrounded by the gentle vineyards of Weingut LISZT, Christine and Johannes celebrated their wedding in October. The ceremony took place in the charming wine cellar, followed by a relaxed reception with their loved ones. The warm autumn sun, attention to detail, and authentic moments made this day truly special.

The evening before the wedding, I met Christine and Johannes for a short Story Session at their hotel. Nothing elaborate. Just some time together before everything really started.  We continued for a few minutes the following morning, while they were practising their first dance in their hotel room.

Morning light was pouring through the windows and, instead of recreating something later for the camera, I could simply film something they were actually doing.

Those scenes became some of my favourite footage from the entire film.

And that’s exactly why I love Story Sessions.

Why Wedding Films can be so much more

A wedding film doesn’t necessarily have to begin with getting ready.

Sometimes the quieter moments surrounding the wedding tell me much more about a couple.

The evening before. Walking somewhere together. Making breakfast.

Or, like in this case, practising your first dance when nobody else is around.

For Christine and Johannes, we split their Story Session into two very short pieces.

One the evening before their wedding and another the following morning.

It gave us completely different footage from anything that happened later at Weingut LISZT

and helped the finished film feel less like a recap of one day and more like a small piece of their life together.

Getting married at Weingut LISZT

Weingut LISZT is located in Leithaprodersdorf in Burgenland, surrounded by the wine-growing landscape of eastern Austria.

The venue combines a working winery and Heuriger with several different spaces for weddings.

Ceremonies can take place inside the atmospheric vaulted cellar, in the wine manufactory or outdoors among the vineyards.

Christine and Johannes chose the cellar for their ceremony.

Its darker, intimate atmosphere created a completely different feeling from the bright reception outside afterwards. Something that also worked beautifully within the film.

The venue then allows the rest of the celebration to move naturally between the indoor spaces, courtyard and surrounding wine landscape.

An autumn wedding in Burgenland

Burgenland feels very different from the alpine parts of Austria where I film most often.

Instead of dramatic mountains, the landscape is open and gentle.

Vineyards, fields, warm evening light and small wine-growing villages define much of the region.

In autumn especially, that creates a very different visual atmosphere for a wedding.

And I actually like having films like this in my portfolio.

Not every Austrian wedding needs mountains behind it to feel distinctly Austrian.

Documentary wedding films across Austria

We film weddings, elopements and multi-day celebrations with as little staging as possible.

Most of our weddings take us through Tyrol, Salzburg, the Austrian Alps and the Dolomites, but the right wedding is always worth travelling for.

If you’re planning something somewhere in Austria that feels a little more personal than traditional, tell me what you have in mind.
